Belated post from the Design Biennale 2023. One year on and the themes still resonate

The show was immense with designers from around the world responding to the theme - The Global Game: Remapping Collaborations. You can read more about it here https://www.somersethouse.org.uk/whats-on/london-design-biennale-eureka-2023
What stood out for me were the converging and diverging perspectives on design from different cultures (but mostly converging I'm glad to say!)
Collaboration and co-operation between Design, Art, Science and Technology
and the case for creativity and design with a social purpose.
The Taiwan Pavillion exhibit above, captivated me for the longest with its message about creativity and human spirit.
The exhibit featured a huge industrial -looking framework of spring loaded aluminium pins which was controlled by electro magnets and set to respond to music in a pre-determined, rhythmic sequence but due to the inherent physical nature of springs, (ie. springy) inevitably some popped up in unexpected ways, a bit like humans. What a beautiful metaphor for human nature, co-operation and individual creativity.

'Because the world needs design' anyone who knows me will know I go on about this all the time and it's why I ventured into Creative Education. Above is the case being made eloquently by UAL as part of the Eureka showcase.
A few comments that stuck with me from Eureka, on valuing curiosity, communication, human experience and human connection.
